WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN MUMWRITE?
Picture
“I had to take a leap of faith, sharing my work. But it was received with such generosity. Since we started, I've been writing EVERY DAY. I feel like I'm assembling a toolkit, whereas before I didn't know where to start.”
-MumWrite participant

WHAT IS MUMWRITE?

MumWrite is an online writing community for women writers who want to start writing or want to write more. It's for all women writers, but especially busy mums who want to dedicate more time to writing and themselves, as well as achieving their publishing dreams!

Mums often feel guilty about having some time for their own interests but doing so can really boost your:
-writing voice
-overall wellbeing
-confidence in your life, work and writing
-happiness and fulfilment

It's also a space where it's okay if your child interrupts or wants to sit with you, where you can feel tired and quiet sometimes, where you can BE YOURSELF. Women writers who are not mums are also welcome at MumWrite, as long as they are happy with the ethos of the community.

All the activities are layered and guided by me. MumWrite is an accessible and welcoming community.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR, NIKKI

Hi, I'm Nikki - I'm a published writer and a mum of two young children. I am the author of two novels, one of which is the winner of the Virginia Prize for fiction 2020. I have a chapbook and collection with Knives Forks and Spoons Press. I also have a hybrid pamphlet and poetry collection with Beir Bua Press. My poems have been widely published online, in print and one was exhibited in the Blackpool Illuminations 2016. I co-edit streetcake magazine and run the streetcake writing prize, funded by ACE. I have run creative writing workshops for festivals and events, as well as acting as a visiting lecturer at Roehampton University. I can guide you, support you and help you because I was in that place of fear and doubt with my writing - where I thought it wasn't good enough, or when I thought I didn't have time to write. I started MumWrite in lockdown as I realised I wasn't dedicating enough time to my writing and I wanted to find ways to get creative again. I couldn't find workshops that suited my situation so I started my own programme! Now I want to share my passion for writing with you and help you get one step closer to getting your writing out in the world where it belongs! I strongly value the positive benefits writing brings to others in terms of confidence, wellbeing, self-care and happiness.
