MUMWRITE IS... COMMUNITY - WORKSHOPS -
SUPPORT - FEEDBACK - SELF-CARE - DEVELOPMENT
- SHARING- ACCOUNTABILITY - PROMPTS -
NON-JUDGEMENTAL - CONFIDENCE BUILDING
MumWrite is a community of mums who write short fiction and poetry, with a particular focus on experimental and new writing techniques. The programme is largely online, which breaks geographical barriers and brings mums from all around the UK and elsewhere together.
MumWrite runs a regular programme for writing mums with different levels available and also independent workshops to help mums enjoy some writing time, find peers, create a writing toolkit for the future, and develop as a writer. Writing time is 'you time' and a fantastic form of self-care for mums, which can lead to wide-ranging benefits in terms of overall wellbeing, community and expression. MumWrite gives you time to invest in yourself as a writer - time you deserve, with people around you who understand your situation.
The supportive programme offers:
-a non-judgemental space for you to grow your confidence and explore your writing.
-a group that understand interruptions and tiny people visits!
-writing prompts and support if you need to catch up or can't attend for any reason.
-a group that understands if you've had no sleep, not done your hair and are wearing your pyjamas!
-a space filled with like-minded people who understand the pressures of writing and parenting.
-a space for both newer and more established writers, sharing knowledge and resources.

MumWrite is for anyone who identifies as a mum. You may be someone who is expecting a child, someone who has had a child, a foster or adoptive mum, someone who has lost a child, someone who is a young mum, someone who is an older mum... You get the picture! You're welcome here!
The MumWrite pilot in 2020 was supported by the Arts Council England and Kofi-donations from amazing supporters. This programme would not exist without these fantastic people. The pilot included 21 mums, pushing boundaries and developing strong bonds that have been positive and affirming for their writing
and confidence.
I want to reach even more mums and help them on their writing journey.

Let's hear it from the mums:
"I enjoy the support from the other participants and from Nikki, and I love the exercises we do -
I find them inspiring and I learn a lot from them."
"This MumWrite course has opened my eyes to a world of possibilities within my writing. I would urge anyone to take one of these courses because it has opened my mind." - Michéle
"The workshops have provided really helpful practical tips and techniques that have already improved my writing and led directly to a new piece being accepted for publication." - Naomi
